It’s Not Brain Surgery….Oh…Wait…

I rushed to put together a bunch of blog posts to drop while I’m GOTV-ing in New Hampshire, so apologies for not digging up a good Halloween post. But brain surgery is kinda creepy, right? And the banjo makes me think of Deliverance, which is a darn right scary movie. So here’s video of a banjo player, playing the banjo during brain surgery. Why? Because the surgeons want to make sure they’re not cutting off something important, and since you don’t have any nerves in your brain, they generally do this stuff awake. Cool.

Tape Makes….Xrays?

It’s true.  Those oddball waves first discovered in 1895 by Wilhelm Röntgen are generated by sticky tape unpeeled in a vacuum. NATURE uncovered this strange story, focused on a couple of guys at UCLA who’ve built a machine for unpeeling sticky-tape in a vacuum at the rate of 3 centimeters per second for the express purpose of generating x-rays. Video below proves it works.
