This is a Rhode Islandism that still gets me. It is used for small numbers, particularly a short shopping list or group of people, as in, “I gotta run to the store to get a cupola tree things.”
Anyway, another Rhode Island thing is running to the store to get bread and milk whenever snow is predicted. And though Ellison and I did go to several different stores to buy tons of food and other staples prior to the snow, we neglected to pick up either bread or milk. But running to the store in the snow gave us a great excuse to make snow angels in the parking lot at the end of our street.
