Corn Cob in the Washing Machine

Last weekend, we busted ass and drove to Pittsburgh to celebrate Ellison. This week, I spent recovering. Perhaps if I hadn’t driven the whole 12 hrs home, including the stretch through the hail storm, I wouldn’t have been so crippled.

Kennywood!

Kennywood!

We took a super fun trip to Kennywood, one of very few independent amusement parks remaining in the US.

Best ride at Kennywood: the King Kahuna. It is a double row of seats mounted on a rotating arm, so the arm spins 360 degrees while the seats also spin 360 degrees. I was a little nervous that pairing it with a funnel cake might have been a bad call, but instead Smarty Pants and I went on twice in a row. And aside from a minor malfunction last summer, it has a stellar safety rating.

Rudy made a quick stop to visit his brethren*, and while Ellison made friends with some little girls who thought she was HILARIOUS.

Smarty Pants bought Ellison a hat that she just loves. It makes her head into a duck and has a special ribbon that makes the crinkly, shiny duck wings flap when you pull it. The duck’s name is Marmalade. It has proven to be endless fun.

After gorging ourselves on amusement park food, screwing with our inner ears, ogling all the freaks and misfits that seem to make up the majority of park patrons, making friends with and giving stickers to small girls, and generally having a fine old time, it was time to head out. Fun.

And a lovely night to you, Kennywood.

*In case you were wondering, that *is* the shirt from my mom.
