On Sunday afternoon, despite the cold, we decided to head out to our favorite Audubon refuge for a hike – trying to keep up some level of the activity we had on our trip. On the way we saw a sign: Alpaca Open House. Who could resist? Certainly not us.
We followed the signs a short way off our planned route and found ourselves at the Shadow Pines Alpaca Farm, a very robust farm with 20 or so alpacas of all shapes, sizes and colors. So fun! Their yarn is packaged with adorable labels featuring a photo of the animal whose hair is included – I have some in my stash from RI Sheep and Wool, so I resisted buying any. We got to pet them, learn a little about how easy they are to maintain, and watch them scratch their soft pallets on the fence wires. So cute!
